Welcome to The Fashion Maids Blog!

Thanks for checking out The Fashion Maids' Blog! You may have found us through all the Instagram buzz going around, or maybe you heard about us from a friend or #PFF. Anyways, we're glad you're here! We have lots to share with anyone who is as OBSESSED as we are about reselling clothes.

Wait, people resell old clothes? What the heck is a #PFF? I will explain everything throughout regular posts on the FM blog, but here's a little more info.

The reselling community and secondhand market have been around for decades. Websites like eBay, Craigslist, and Amazon have been popular for a while now, but there's an increase in social media based platforms. These reselling apps include Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, LetGo, Vinted, Relovv, and more. These apps have created a community of fashion-savvy, waste-conscious entrepreneurs. People actually make a living off of selling old clothes without much effort!

The FM (The Fashion Maids) blog is here to educate you on how to navigate this crazy new clothing community. My name is Linnea, and I will be updating you on behalf of The Fashion Maids about everything in the resale fashion world. I'll highlight important tips and tricks for reselling, hot new style trends, interviews with notable sellers, how to use FM to grow your side-hustle business, and more! Feel free to leave any questions in the comments below. I will try to answer any resale questions you have to the best of my abilities!

A little background on me: I have been a serious, part-time reseller for about 5 years now. I have experimented with reselling on 10+ platforms/apps/sites, and have made lots of mistakes along the way. Now that I have some experience under my belt and understand the system much better, I will be sharing the lessons I've learned with you! The Fashion Maids are reseller SAVIOURS and I'm so excited to share more with you all about how they make life easier for all you #ebaybes, #depopfamous, #poshbosses and #mercariaddicts!

So, how do The Fashion Maids help you sell clothes? For those of you who are new to FM, they offer resellers with on-trend, NWT (new with tags) clothing from top brands to jump start their shops or closets. You can subscribe to their monthly clothing box to receive 10 brand spankin' new items of clothing for cheap!

Most people resell thrifted clothing on these apps. Secondhand clothing is good for your wallet, the environment, and for finding unique items out of production! What most resellers don't understand is that reselling new fashion can be secondhand too. Of course, there are those rare thrift store finds that magically still have tags attached, but there's an easier way to get that same thrill.

So. Much. Searching.

So. Much. Searching.

Jump to your favorite department store. They always have a constant influx of brand-new, on-trend, in-style product. Sure, they have end-of season sales and whatnot, but they never seem to be empty. Ever wonder what happens to those new clothes that don't sell before the next fashion styles come in? Some stores used to, or still do, destroy and throw them out!!

Holding businesses and brands accountable for their actions is important to keep our precious clothes from being wasted. It's called producer responsibility. Some brands and businesses have now stepped up to the plate to make sure clothes don't get trashed, including responsible recycling, donating to nonprofits and other countries, and liquidating stock to other businesses.

The Fashion Maids are lucky to have the opportunity to extend those cheap liquidation prices to all us resellers! This provides a vital market for clothes that previously would have been tossed, and ensures that you will continue to have access to top quality clothing to sell. Without people to sell the past-season clothes to, those big brands and businesses may not continue to give us those perfectly good, new clothes!

On the reseller side of things, if you have a diverse closet with a good mix of NWT (new with tags) listings, then it will attract more buyers. Simple as that. Adding more quality, on-trend listings to your shop or closet increases the chances of someone finding you and your great products.

Also, if you are strapped for time or live in an area with limited thrift stores and sourcing options, buying through The Fashion Maids subscription box is perfect for you! All the heavy lifting of sourcing is done for you, and the high quality clothes just show up at your door. This gives you more time to focus on other jobs, or maybe just devote more time to quality photos!

With FM, you are now saving:

  • Gas and money from driving to thrift stores (yay, less gas emissions!)

  • Time from shopping and sifting through racks and racks of clothes

  • Research on the product's value, season produced, etc.

  • Time and money from cleaning and steaming the clothes

Sourcing some of your inventory from FM makes economical sense. Don't get me wrong, I still thrift, but getting some of my inventory through FM cuts back a ton of costs and effort, especially when I am busy with my day job!

Once you receive your FM box, it's super easy and simple to sell the clothes. I will walk you through the entire process in another post, but here is the basic gist:

1. Take inventory and notes of your items received

2. Take quality, styled photos of your items

3. List, list, list!

4. Make tons of money

5. Eagerly await your next FM box in the mail

If you'd like to get notified when the full outline is posted, make sure to follow @TheFashionMaids on Insta and subscribe to the newsletter! I'll help give you instructions on how to take full advantage of your FM box. You can also stay tuned for more posts about what you might receive in your box! For now, you can check out the home page on the FM website for sample boxes.

Heck, maybe even order a box of new clothes just for yourself while you're at it! I know I'm going to.
